Toutefois, les tendances à long terme des changements liés aux activités humaines et aux changements mondiaux restent mal comprises.

This briefing assesses the health risks due to exposure to environmental noise in Europe using three indicators to measure, monitor and communicate the impacts of noise pollution on health: (1) exposure to noise above recommended levels established by the World Health Organization; (2) number of people suffering health effects from exposure to noise; (3) burden of disease from noise. The indicators are derived from data submitted to the EEA under the EU Environmental Noise Directive and will be used to inform the development of future targets to reduce the health impacts of noise.

This report describes the status and trends of biodiversity and ecosystem services in the Nordic region, the drivers and pressures affecting them, interactions and effects on people and society, and options for governance. The main report consists of two volumes. Volume 1 The general overview (this report) and Volume 2 The geographical case studies.

The global population of wild species has fallen by 60% in just 40 years, and roughly one million species are at risk of extinction. LIFE projects are helping to counter this decline as can be seen in our new Bringing nature back through LIFE study.

LIFE projects have been helping to save numerous species from extinction across the EU. These include the Bearded vulture, the Imperial eagle, the Azores bullfinch, the Aquatic warbler and the Blue chaffinch. Other species brought back from the brink are the Iberian lynx, the Brown bear, the Pyrenean desman and the Mediterranean monk seal.

The SOPHIE survey was developed with the aim of understanding public perceptions of the risks and benefits of marine ecosystems for human health and wellbeing. Read the survey report to view the findings.
