Le village gallois de Fairbourne devrait finir sous le niveau de la mer. Il y a bientôt dix ans, décision a été prise de relocaliser le village d'ici le milieu du siècle. Si les autorités temporisent face aux inquiétudes, les habitants pourraient devenir les premiers "réfugiés climatiques" du Royaume-Uni, qui se prépare de plus en plus aux conséquences de la crise climatique après un été marqué par les sécheresses et des records de température.

Les trois femelles seront bientôt rejointes par un mâle en vue d’agrandir le troupeau. Dans une forêt proche de Canterbury (Royaume-Uni), trois bisons ont récemment élu domicile dans le cadre d’un ambitieux projet de réintroduction. Les aires marines protégées ont un rôle à jouer dans la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique. C'est ce que soutiennent la France, le Chili, le Costa Rica, le Royaume-Uni et les Etats-Unis. Le 2 juin dernier, l'Office français de la biodiversité a annoncé un partenariat international entre les agences de protection du milieu marin de ces cinq pays. Le but ? Promouvoir les aires marines protégées comme des outils de lutte contre le changement climatique auprès des dirigeants mondiaux. Il s'agit de l'international partnership on MPAs, biodiversity and climate change.

Our results show that several species (55 of the 124 considered in our study) are likely to benefit from future climate change and, freed from other constraints, we can expect their populations to increase by 2080. In contrast, fewer species (11 of 124) are likely to suffer from climate change.

Some of Britain’s most beautiful butterflies are being killed off by mild winters, conservations have said. The colourful insects suffered ‘one of their worst years on record’ in 2016 with 40 of the 57 species assessed in the annual UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme declining compared to the previous 12 months.
