Le GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility, ou Système mondial d'information sur la biodiversité) est un réseau international dont le but est de mettre à disposition le maximum de données primaires sur la biodiversité via le portail www.gbif.org, de façon libre et gratuite.L’INPN (plateforme nationale du Système d’information de l’inventaire du patrimoine naturel (SINP) contribue au GBIF depuis plusieurs années, en partageant au niveau international les données d’occurrences d’espèces rassemblées par les producteurs de données français sur le territoire national, métropole et outre-mer inclus.

A worldwide call to implement habitat protection aims to halt biodiversity loss. We constructed an open-source, standardized, and reproducible workflow that calculates two indexes to monitor the extent of coastal and marine habitats within protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures. The Local Proportion of Habitats Protected Index (LPHPI) pinpoints the jurisdictions with the greatest opportunity to expand their protected or conserved areas, while the Global Proportion of Habitats Protected Index (GPHPI) showcases which jurisdictions contribute the most area to the protection of these habitats globally. We also evaluated which jurisdictions have the highest opportunity to contribute globally to protecting habitats by meeting a target of 30% coverage. We found that Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (ABNJ) have the greatest potential to do so.

Abstract. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessments are
the trusted source of scientific evidence for climate negotiations taking
place under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), including the first global stocktake under the Paris Agreement that will conclude at COP28 in December 2023. Evidence-based decision-making needs to be informed by up-to-date and timely information on key indicators of the state of the climate system and of the human influence on the global climate system.

La Conférence vise à combler le fossé entre la science, les politiques et la prise de décision afin de soutenir un développement efficace de la résilience. Elle ne se limite pas à l'évaluation de la vulnérabilité et des risques climatiques, mais aborde également les défis liés à l'accélération et à la mise à l'échelle de solutions d'adaptation innovantes, au financement du climat et au rôle émergent de la participation des citoyens et de la science ouverte. 

Data on tropical forests are in high demand. But ground forest measurements are hard to sustain and the people who make them are extremely disadvantaged compared to those who use them. We propose a new approach to forest data that focuses on the needs of data originators, and ensures users and funders contribute properly.
