Un tel indicateur devrait compléter la mesure économique typique du PIB dans des scénarios politiques et des évaluations.

More than 40% of the insect orders don’t have enough taxonomists to study them! The paradox is that expertise is particularly poor in the countries with the richest biodiversity… While insect populations continue to decline, taxonomic expertise in Europe is at serious risk, confirms data obtained within the European Red List of Insect Taxonomists, a recent study commissioned by the European Union (EU).

L’AFB, le MTES et l’ONCFS viennent de publier deux nouvelles brochures présentant les obligations relatives à la mise en oeuvre du règlement européen sur les EEE. Elles rappellent les textes de loi en vigueur, et présentent les 26 espèces animales et les 23 espèces végétales réglementées en métropole.

Le projet ECTOPYR a célébré son séminaire de lancement du 26 au 28 juillet dernier. Le projet vise à utiliser huit ectothermes (organismes qui ont la même température corporelle que celle du milieu extérieur) pyrénéens pour les utiliser comme bio-indicateur des effets du changement climatique.

The conservation of large carnivores is a formidable challenge for biodiversity conservation. Using a data set on the past and current status of brown bears (Ursus arctos), Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx), gray wolves (Canis lupus), and wolverines (Gulo gulo) in European countries, we show that roughly one-third of mainland Europe hosts at least one large carnivore species, with stable or increasing abundance in most cases in 21st-century records.
