Entre pressions directes et facteurs indirects qui les aggravent, les scientifiques ont déjà mis en évidence les points de leviers pour envisager un avenir plus soutenable pour nos océans. Toutefois, mettre en œuvre les changements transformateurs nécessaires n’est pas trivial.

CPA Secretary-General Elect, Mr Stephen Twigg who spoke at the second webinar focused on the Caribbean and Indian Oceans and highlighted the aspirations of the CPA Small Branches network to support Members in promoting biodiversity and in the aspirations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The CPA Small Branches network operates in 43 Commonwealth jurisdictions with 16 of them in the CPA Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Region and 10 in the CPA Pacific Region.

Dans le cadre d’une recherche sur la gouvernance des projets Natura 2000 en mer, nous avons étudié précisément les formes d’engagement à partir d’une grille d’analyse dynamique, pour caractériser des trajectoires d’engagement. En effet, du fait du choix, en France, d’une mise en œuvre de Natura 2000 fondée sur la concertation et le volontariat, l’engagement des parties prenantes (niveau, forme, durée) est un facteur déterminant pour les processus de traduction et d’apprentissage social qui s’opèrent au sein de ces dispositifs de gouvernance, et pour l’effectivité de cette politique.

The oceans are increasingly viewed as a new frontier for economic development. Yet, as companies and governments race to capitalize on marine resources, substantial risks can arise for people and the environment. The dominant discourse that frames blue growth as beneficial for the economy, developing nations, and coastal communities risks downplaying the uneven distribution of benefits and potential harms.
