While all economic value is ultimately derived from nature, it is unaccounted for in our economic system. Healthy ecosystems form the backbone of a sustainable future and their protection and restoration are essential, not only for a thriving economy, but for safe, resilient and livable cities. On 2 July, IUCN, in cooperation with ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability hosted a webinar, as part of the URBIS – Urban Biosphere Initiative Dialogue series, on “reconciling economic development and attracting investment for urban green solutions in and around cities”. The session focused on identifying policies and incentives for using natural solutions to tackle socio-economic and environmental challenges in urban areas.
